Early Education Funding for 3 & 4 Year Olds

Early Education Funding (EEF) pays towards education hours for three and four year olds from the term after their 3rd birthday. The term dates are the same every year and are set by the Government:

Third Birthday between           Eligible from

1 April – 31 August                            Autumn Term starting September

1 September – 31 December            Spring Term starting in January

1 January – 31 March                       Summer Term starting in April

It is our duty to explain to parents how the Early Education Funding for 3 and 4 year olds will be delivered to parents, and how this will be reflected in our billing arrangements in the future.  The hourly rate for the EEF has been calculated at £5.31 from April 1st, 2020. Therefore, for settings like The Barnes Village Nursery, open beyond 3 hours per day and 15 hours per week, parents will be charged additional parental contributions for the nursery to remain sustainable. These contributions will include the extra benefits and additional services that children receive and enjoy at The Village. For example,

- Time beyond the EEF funded session times

- Higher staffing ratios than those recommended by Ofsted

- Specialist teaching and a highly qualified staff, again above and beyond the specified regulatory requirements

- Extra activities, including Music, Ball Skills, Cookery and Outdoor Learning

- Sensory Room

- Outings

- Visitors to the nursery

- Ingredients for cooking

-  Resources for celebrations i.e. Diwali, Christmas and Chinese New Year.

The EEF will be taken off at the point of delivery. In plain English, this means that your  Early Education Funding will be taken off your total bill at the beginning of each term at a rate of £5.25 per hour, up to a maximum of 15 hours per week so if your child attends for 5 mornings a week, during an 11 week term (15 hours x 11 weeks x £5.25, the sum of £866.25 will deducted from your termly invoice.

The Deductable Amount per Term is as follows

(the amount will be itemised on your invoice and will be deducted directly from the payable amount)

5 Mornings per week £876.15

4 Mornings per week £700.92

3 Mornings per week £525.69

Childcare vouchers

Childcare vouchers is a scheme some employers offer to help working parents save on

registered childcare costs. Childcare vouchers are not means tested and are available to all working parents whose employers operate childcare voucher schemes.

These schemes can save you National Insurance and income tax as a set weekly amount can be deducted from your salary and used to provide childcare vouchers for the same amount. This amount is deducted from the gross salary and is exempt from National Insurance and Income Tax. Therefore, we are unable to refund any amounts paid using vouchers as this contravenes HMRC regulations. We work in partnership with most large Childcare Voucher Schemes. Please ask in the Office for details.
